Comedy at The Basement is a comedy event emanating from Sydney's iconic jazz club, The Basement, in Circular Quay. Twice a month, Comedy at The Basement will host the funniest stand-up comedians in the country. It's the only place to catch world-class comedy in Sydney's CBD, and at one of the city's most beloved venues.

DANIEL WELTLINGER (ALBUM LAUNCH)

One of the great jazz violinists of the world, Berlin based Daniel Weltlinger launches his new album ‘Koblenz’ at the Basement! In September 2011 Daniel launched to a packed, thrilled audience at the Basement his debut CD ‘Souvenirs: A tribute to French-Gypsy composer and guitarist Django Reinhardt’ which was proudly sponsored by BNP Paribas Australia and the BNP Paribas Foundation based in Paris. The new album Koblenz is the first in a series of recordings to sequel Souvenirs and continues this fine partnership with BNP Paribas Australia.

THE IDEA OF NORTH

The Idea of North return to The Basement for the first time in two years for an evening of impressive and heart-warming music with the usual pinch of TION hilarity thrown in. You'll be amazed at the sound these four people can make together and you'll forget there are no instruments on stage. Since they last graced our stage they've been around the world, sung with The Manhattan Transfer in Sydney and Canberra, won their second ARIA and released a film clip for the title track from their most recent album 'Smile'. Richard Terfry is Buck 65. He's from Mt. Uniacke, Nova Scotia, which qualifies technically as the middle of nowhere. When he started making music, he was terrified that his friends would find out about it and kick his ass. That was a long time ago. In the last 20 years, he has released and given away more than 20 albums and countless other stray songs.

Four of Australia’s leading blues players are joining forces to salute four of the blues ‘biggest and most influential artists.
